Legal proceedings concerning the case "Chaplin vs. Vitagraph-Lubin-Selig, Essanay Inc. and Essanay Film Manufacturing Company". In May 1916 Chaplin took out an injunction with the NY County Supreme Court to prevent Essanay from distributing Carmen, as he had not approved the final work. Seabury is Essanay's lawyer.
