The clipping is included in a press release file on Charles Chaplin collected by Arnold Sobel. When "Monsieur Verdoux" was released in 1947, the reviews were generally unfavourable, as was the reaction of the public. The press had been attacking Chaplin for his political views and the American Legion actually threatened exhibitors that they would boycott for a year any theatre that showed the film. But now "Monsieur Verdoux" is back, playing at the Plaza Theater in New York for the Chaplin Festival.
