The first pages contain a detailed description of the opening scene with camera movements. This script also develops the following scenes: "Canon, Curates & Radio"; "Dining Room". The screenplay is an adaptation of Paul Vincent Carroll's 1934 drama "Shadow and Substance". The story takes place on the outskirts of a small Irish town. A devout, ingenuous girl, Brigid, works in the parochial residence of Reverend Thomas Cannon Skerritt, and has visions of St. Brigid.
