Chaplin has exchanged his bowler hat, cane and baggy trousers for the dapper elegance of a modern Bluebeard in his latest film "Monsieur Verdoux". The film has its stretches of boredom and its message is altogether to simple. Had this film been made by anyone else it would surely have been insupportable.
