Chaplin's "Monsieur Verdoux" is a film everyone will want to see, even if it's not to everyone's taste. The character of Verdoux was inspired by Thomas Wainwright and Henri Landru, the French Bluebeard. The final sermon is slightly disappointing and betrays Chaplin's comic genius.
