Pole Tells of Chaplin Body-snatch - ECCI00017168
The clipping is included in a press release file on Charles Chaplin collected by Arnold Sobel. Polish refugee Roman Wardas said he stole Chaplin's body and tried to sell it to the comedian's family because he was in financial trouble. He had read a newspaper report about a similar case in Italy. Together with Gantscho Ganev, a Bulgarian, he is accused of desecrating Chaplin's tomb and attempting to extort $600,000 from the Chaplin family.
